Here is some conceptual web design work, as well as some live websites I've had the opportunity to lead the design and development of.
Cha Chaan Teng Field Guide
Cha chaan tengs are a type of Hong Kong, Macau and Guangdong restaurant that serve Hong-Kong style Western cuisine. Drawing on my Chinese-Canadian background, this was a fun design concept developed to experiment with interactive Javascript animations. A demo is shown below.
The Open Speakers Database is a crowdsourced database for connecting people with regional experts on Open Access, Open Education, and Open Data. This is also intended to be a resource to encourage event organizers to invite geographically diverse speakers to their meetings and conferences. The database is powered by Sheetsu and you can find the code on Github.
OpenCon 2017's do-a-thon was a day of working and collaborating to advance Open Research and Open Education initiatives. I was part of a two-person team that designed the event itself as well as the accompanying website, working together to plan what the day would look like and to develop the back end workflow for managing project submissions. I led the UI/UX design and development of the event webpage; my colleague Joe McArthur also was a huge contributor to the site's creation. The code is available on Github.
